2024 is off to a rockin’ start for me. I love attending live gigs with great music and this month has delivered the goods. I visited my old uni to see some bands playing tribute to a few Nu Metal giants. It was interesting seeing how much the campus had changed, and the nostalgia hit hard when I caught up with my bestie who I have been friends with since first year uni over 20 years ago. The bands were great too.
First there was Fallen who covered a bunch of popular Evanescence songs, including my favourite—“Sweet Sacrifice.” System of a Don’t came on next and OMG—they were amazing. So full of energy! “Aerials” continues to be a fave song of mine and these guys played an exceptional rendition. Finally, Meteora—an Australian Linkin Park Tribute—took to the stage. I’ll admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of Linkin Park, but there was no denying this band’s talent.
Now I’m looking forward to seeing Katatonia play in February.
