It is festival time in Adelaide, which also means I recently attended Writers’ Week. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this event, it is a free festival designed to bring authors and readers together with panels and book signings. One of the things I love about Writers’ Week is discovering new books to read and this year was no exception. But I also learned a lot thanks to a series of talks focussed on the business of being an author. My 2 biggest take-aways from this year:
- There are local bookshops that stock the works of self-published authors, but it’s important to build a relationship with those booksellers first.
- I want to read the works of Australian fantasy author, Maria Lewis.
